Mariposa Museum and History Center

Founded in 1957, the Mariposa Museum & History Center is administered as a non-profit corporation. The museum’s mission is to authentically portray the people and lifestyle of Mariposa County from the Native American and Spanish periods to the California Gold Rush and through the early 1900s.

Description: Indian Gulch, established in 1849, was one of the earliest mining settlements in Mariposa County. It is now a California ghost town. The Indian Gulch Catholic Church was moved to the MMHC and then unfortunately burned down in a brush fire. The film shows Scott Pinkerton, well-known historian, as Angevine Reynolds.
